Sock Shock

I bleeding love the whole socks and shoes trend and have myself rocked it twice. However when standing at Morrisons cashpoint and hearing 'Socks' from an extremely observant idiot behind me, it did make me consider that there is always a time and a place that certain looks will be accepted and when they wont.

All this being said I live in a tiny town that thought Primark being installed was like heaven being placed in a more convenient space, so I wil continue to wear them. I love these lace ankle socks, I think I may treat myself. Sock Theory.

I have tickets

So Monday the 31st March seen myself and my boyfriend Lewis frantically trying to get Reading tickets, it will be my fourth time of attending the festival and I'm guessing as my free living Student life is nearing an end the last.
So depserate to go I was literally freaking out at the thought of not getting them I even dragged the 'rents into help and it was my wonderful Mum who managed to get through to the online booking page so BRILLIANT.

Line up looks insane and I may pee my pants when Paramore are on, I love them and I want to be her! Her stlye is perfect, punky with a feminine edge, shes very pretty.

BUT, I just couldn't wait until August it far to long to wait, I've really missed going to see live music recently as it was something I was often doing and I hope to get back to it so when Lewis invited me to the Camden Crawl I jumped at the chance. Therefore on the 1st of May of this year I will be thrust into a world of many different stlyes, music, fashion and the clinically insane. I can hardly wait.

Going to be a brillaint weekend hopefully full of Sun, Cider and Music! PERFECTION.
Also when I return back to nottingham on the monday I have tickets for The Temper Trap, at Rock City. Completely Faultless band, phenomenal lyrics and brilliant style.

Hurry up time!

Judy Graceland for one night only.

So my friends two hetrosexual 21 year old single males, decided that instead of
going out like normal young people would, we would stay in and take part in a murder mystery night, and as dubious as I was after a few wines, an indian take away and some good friends, I actually did have a really good night!

My character was Judy Graceland: A child star just a decade ago, you are young and beautiful but it looks as though your best years may already be behind you.Costume suggestion: Dressed slightly younger than your years, in an attempt to recapture your lost stardom. It ended up I had, had an affair with the man however I never murdered him.

I Figured as it was 1940, I would take on a 1920 Flapper 'esque type look to maintain my younger years as I assumed this was the time I would have been famous.
Here is a picture of us all dressed up:

Im Wearing : Headband - Fancy Dress
Fur Coat - Vintage
Dress - Limited Collection, M&S
Shoes - Topshop
Fishnet Tights - PrettyPolly
Pearls - Topshop

Neglection Section...again!

As this is the second time I have had to explain the neglection of my blog (due to work) it is becoming a bit of a feature which is something I didn't and don't want.
It's just when the work load hits it hits me like a ton of bricks...mainly because I seem to be chugging along with no real fear until panic mode and pressure fall on me from a great height!
Sooooo I will do a little back log of things I have considered over the month of April.

My project is going well I'm currently in the implementation stage which is the second part of my project. Looking at reasons as to why now is the right time to implement the concept store and also discover reasons as to why the consumer will return. I've contacted RGB in Berlin (blogged previously) today to see if they can give me any sight into how things planned out for them, also to see if they can give me any feedback on my project so I will report back if I get a reply..fingers crossed.

Curious Characteristics

Imagine the Scenario, your tired: its monday morning: your on a busy tube on your way to work and suddenly...

What is that?
No your eyes aren't decieving you its a walking painting! BRILLIANT!
I recieved an e-mail this morning from Trend Hunter and they sent me into the world of Alexa Meade <3.
She is simply a genius with acrylic paints making real life subjects look asif they have just escaped from a painting. Its hard to believe what your seeing, it just doesn't look real.

I would seriously love to have been there when this guy was rocking about.

Irish eyes are always smiling.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

With the surname 'Mullin' it probably comes as no surprise I have Irish Heritage. This picture was taken in october 09 when me and some of my friends went to Dublin for the weekend. I had the most amazing time!

The final curtain call.

So it seems McQueens work was left to do the talking.
His final pieces are said to be the most beautiful that he has done, however doesnt that always seem to be the case, annoys me when that is said to be honest.

The pieces are however stunning with a real dramatic feel to them, referencing religious icons and angels, it seemed haunting.
High-necked, closely fitted to the body, flattening the breasts, curving delicately over shoulders and swooping into stiff folds of satin from the hips, they were partnered with high-heeled carved gold shoes or thigh-high buckled boots(personal favourite).

It still hasn't been stated who will take over.

Take it Away

Honouring the ateliers and craftsmen of Paris, this year's Chanel Métiers d'Arts collection took inspiration from Shanghai.

Love this, created by Karl Lagerfield.

Memoirs of a Mullin

REAL Geisha Girls...absolutely beautiful!

Harajuku Girls

So I mentioned before going to Tokyo that I was really looking forward to coming across the Harajuku girls and was immediately on the scout for them as I arrived. It seemed that they were not as prominant as I had imagined they were in Tokyo. Whilst shopping in Omote Sando there was a few sightings of them, however Harajuku Square on the saturday afternoon was where I found the majority.

The only way I could describe how they were is by relating them to the 'Scene Kids' on Myspace.(No offence intended) They were very hyper active and obviously out to gain attention, all female and all screaming. They were all dressed in their own style and each had their own personality. After speaking to a Japanese Waitor it seems that Harajuku is not cool anymore and therefore the numbers of them are dwindling.

On the BackBurner...

It has been a while since I last updated my blog due to a lot of effort being put into finishing the first stage of my project. It was a busy busy final week before hand in, and with the excitement looming of my trip to Tokyo just at the end of it.

The final design for my project piece was created in the form of a laptop. With my project being based on ASOS I felt it was important to coincide with the online store theme. The pages were laid out in the form of their website which also made it easier for me to navigate the reader through the report.

I was happy with the final product and fingers crossed so was my tutor. Here is just a few examples of how it looked...

Wonderland

Cannot wait for this film to come out, I love the promotion for it and the styling looks ace!
Increasingly becoming obsessed with costume design, which is also making me look forward to my february trip to Tokyo to see the outrageous costumes of the Harajuku Girls!!

An evening at the Circus...

For my friends birthday on saturday we are all dressing up with a circus theme.
I found this costume website called prangsta, the costumes are really cool and look authentic.

Good for inspiration but also look really well styled and I am now a massive fan of ths company.

Walk like an egyption

Judith Leiber, Camel Gobi fine crystal-embellished clutch...
I love little quirky pieces, however at £4075, its an expensive price to pay for a little bit of difference.

Colouring the Mood

RGB is a store currently open in Berlin, its really been inspiring in helping me with my final year project as it has a similar concept.

RGB has a complete overhaul each month in which the space is consistently created entirely in one colour and everything that is sold, exhibited and offered is done according to this colour. Not only does the store sell clothes it also operates in art openings, music events and business.

The pictures make it look amazing and I would have really loved to have visited it! Great inspiration for my own designs.

Diamond in the rough.

Not only is she beautiful but she is also very talented!
She just looks cool everytime iv seen her, I really like her sense of style.

More Snow...

My brother wanted the Mike Snow album for christmas and I havent had it off since.
Really good...especially like 'a horse is not a home', 'animals' and 'black and blue'!

Miles Aldridge

Miles Aldridge is simply a genius; his Fashion Photography has always caught my eye. He has the capability to make the dullest of images come to life with intense colour and fairytale iconography.

Twenty Ten

This New Year I travelled to London and spent the Night at KOKO in Camden. It was an amazing venue, looks like an old opera house but has a really cool vibe inside. Example, Reverend and the Makers and Ou est le Swimming Pool were playing live and it really added to the atmosphere. It was a great night!

Also seen Pixie Lott enjoying her New Year in KOKO! I love her!
